Fantastic Faith for March 8th

Gospel lesson for the third Sunday in Lent - 3.8.2015

Dear Parents,

Today your child listened to a simplified version of John 2:13-25

Theme: Jesus stands up for the Temple.

To reinforce at home:
In John, we hear about Jesus entering the temple and becoming angry with the merchants who are buying and selling.  The Temple was like church, a place where people prayed and praised God together. The people selling things made the Temple too much like a store. Jesus reminds the people that his Father’s house is a place to pray. He is angry they are making a marketplace out of a sacred place.

We explored children’s experiences of being angry with friends and family members and having to ask or give forgiveness. By respecting each other, we respect the presence of God in each of us. We create God’s kingdom by living as Jesus did.

Activities to do at home:

*Evaluate your Lenten experience.  Are you celebrating it as a family or has time gotten away from you?  It’s okay to begin this week to talk about Lent as a season and make decisions about what you want to do together.

*Find something to DO this Lent rather than to GIVE UP.  Give up some time to visit a homebound or sick person.
